Happy Easter

The boys woke up at 6:00 a.m. on Easter morning.  We managed to keep them in their room until 6:45 a.m.  They came down the stairs carrying flowers and cards for me.  So sweet!  Ryan was particularly proud of all the bunnies he drew on his card.  It was adorable.  Ryan picked out a red gerber daisy for me and David picked out a yellow daffodil.
The boys were exited to see the candy in their baskets. Ryan was most excited about the peanut butter and chocolate bunny and David loved the white chocolate cross.  David got Battleship and Ryan got Checkers.  Two very happy boys.

Then David looked out the window and saw all the eggs in the backyard.  The Easter Bunny must have arrived very early and may have been in the backyard at 5:30 a.m. hiding plastic eggs filled with candy.  These boys are so lucky to have such a wonderful Bunny come to our house.  :-)

They ran around the yard filling their baskets with eggs!

Then off to church.  We went to Aunt Shelby and Uncle Bob's house for Easter dinner.  The kids did a bunny mask craft.  Very cute!

Yummy Dinner and then more fun with cousins.

Ryan's in the Big Pool

We went to the YMCA to participate in the underwater egg hunt, but were disappointed to find out that it happened last weekend!  Ooops!  The boys weren't all that upset because the pools were open for All Members Swim and they got to swim.  Ryan decided, all on his own, that he wanted to try to swim the length of the big pool by himself.  (Ryan wants to be on swim team this summer and he knows he has to be able to swim 25 yards by himself to do it.  It's been his goal since January.)  Ryan also wanted David to swim beside him.  David agreed, after I agreed to pay him a dollar.  :)

Ryan was a little nervous as he was getting into the pool.  David gave him a great pep talk.  Something like "Let's go!  I want to earn a dollar!  You can do this!"

Off he went!  He was so brave!  David swam the whole way beside him.

Ryan swam the whole 25 yards on his own and then turned around and swam back!

I think we're going to have two kids on swim team this summer!

Easter Egg Hunt

We go to the Ochard Park Easter Egg Scramble every year  They have about 10,000 and 1,000 kids participate.  It's a really fun way to spend 2 minutes on the Saturday before Easter.  We always see the Easter Bunny and enjoy some outdoor fun.

Chocolate Discovery Day

We spent the morning at the Science Museum learning about chocolate.  The boys each planted a cocoa bean and then headed into the hands-on activity - chocolate sculptures!  David made a chocolate snake and Ryan & Paul created a chocolate crab.

After we were done learning about chocolate the boys enjoyed the museum.  Ryan's favorite place is the lego table.  David had fun learning how to fly and airplane.  He took it through a few dips and upside down.  I hope he doesn't plan on becoming a pilot.  His passengers would all be very ill.

Unsuccessful Leprechaun Trapping

The boys each built a leprechaun trap this year.  They were really hoping to catch a leprechaun and then sell it for "a kazillion" dollars so they could buy more legos.  (That was their plan.)

The nasty little leprechaun didn't get caught in either trap.  Instead he made a huge mess in our powder room.  He even left green leprechaun footprints on the toilet seat and green leprechaun pee in the toilet! Dirty Little Leprechaun!!!

Spring Break at Great Wolf Lodge

We had a great spring break at Great Wolf.  Ryan got to meet Oliver and introduce him to his stuffed Oliver.
The boys had a blast in the water park.
We had lots of friends from State College to play bingo with in the lobby and enjoy the dance party.
The boys had fun at the breakfast buffet in the morning inside the tent table.
Ryan was very excited to add Sammy the Squirrel to his collection.  A new friend for Oliver.

They all love the large family hot tub!  We made several stops throughout the day.  Even more fun with friends from home.

The boys loved racing down the slides together.  They were so much more independent this year.  They ran around the watermark on their own with friends.

Ryan was looking forward to mastering the water lilies this year.  He talked about it the whole drive to Great Wolf.  He worked really hard to make it across without falling in the water.  Once he was able to make it across he didn't want to stop.  We think he ran across the water lilies at least 100 times over the three days we were there.  He was addicted and very proud of himself.

Ryan's only fear at the park was the "toilet bowl" slide.  He really did not want to do it.  So Paul, being such great dad, told Ryan he was taking him on the "yellow" slide (not technically lying) and took him down the "toilet bowl".  Above is Ryan excited to ride with Daddy.
There they are in the "toilet bowl"!  Paul said Ryan started screaming as soon as they got into the bowl part.  He was furious.
Ryan was in tears at the end of the slide and not at all happy with Daddy!  Later that night he told us he wasn't really afraid at all, but that he didn't want to do it again.
David got a MagiQuest wand to play the adventure and find gems.  There are about a dozen adventures and you earn gems with each one.  The game is designed to last over several trips.  David listened intently to all the clues and we spent a lot of time walking up and down the stairs and all over the lodge to find the clues.

They both loved the mini bowling alley.  The balls were small enough for them to hold.
