Trick or Treating Part 1

We went to Shelby's house tonight for Trick of Treating in Hollidaysburg. David and Kelsey walked all over the neighborhood saying "Aaarrgghhhh" and swinging their swords. They were very good pirates. Kaitlyn was a quiet Elmo, very focused on her candy bag. Ryan hung out in the stroller observing everyone and trying to figure out how he could get his hands on the candy.
Here's David examining his loot. He wanted to open everything and eat it right away. He settled down after eating a Reese's cup and some gummy fruit. And when I say settle down, that means stopped eating the candy and moved on to dancing to Mary Poppin's Step in Time with Kelsey in the living room. (Jumping from couch to couch and running around like a typical 3 year old.)

Ryan dreams of munching on the candy. There really wasn't anything in the bag he could eat. He had to settle for an evening snack of Cheerios when we got home.

Preschool Homework

David was assigned homework from preschool on Monday. Decorate two feathers, one with paint, markers, crayons, stickers, glitter, etc. and one with a list of all the things David is thankful. David was very excited to use the glitter paint he got for his birthday.
Here he is with his masterpiece! His Thankful list included: Baby Brother Ryan, Mommy & Daddy, Nana Sharon, Grammy Jill, Poppy, Pappy, Aunt Shelby, Cousins, Teachers, Twix & Henry, Balloons, Goldfish, Toys, and Dinosaurs. He came up with them all on his own. We sat at the table tonight and talked about being thankful.

Pumpking Carving

We carved our pumpkins tonight. David was very excited to help. . . until he saw the inside of the pumpkin. Once he saw all the yuck stuff inside he was done.

He started out trying to help scoop the insides out, but he wasn't thrilled about getting it on his hands.
Ryan got to take David's seat and get a better view of the carving. He really wanted to taste the pumpkin seeds. But really, what doesn't this kid want to eat!

Oooooooooo! Are you scared?!

The Browns

We were lucky enough to have all of Paul's family at our house for David's birthday party this weekend. We don't get to see Paul's brother and his family that often so it was a special treat for everyone to to be together. It was a sports centered weekend with the Flyers, Phillies, Eagles and Penn State all playing. David LOVED having Heather and Amanda here to shower him with attention.

Spiderman Birthday

We celebrated David's 3rd birthday on Saturday with a Spiderman birthday party. We decorated his door with red and blue streamers while he was sleeping. When he woke up he was very VERY scared, and then after we explained to him that Spiderman decorated his door he thought it was "Wow" (aka - very cool).
The kids all loved the spiderman pinata. This is Kelsey, Riley and David listening very attentively to the pinata instructions. Look at their big eyes! Too cute.

At the end of the night Kelsey and David put on their spiderman costumes and attached cousin's Heather and Amanda.

Chewing Gum

We were at the mall yesterday and David got chewing gum out of one of the candy machines. It was his first taste of chewing gum. He wasn't so sure of it when I told him "don't swallow it". Here he is chomping away. He was so careful not to swallow it.
This is him right before he swalled all 5 pieces! No more chewing gum.

Halloween Card Making

Riley came over for a little while this evening after choir practice. Both kids were full of energy and ready to play. I put out the paper, stickers and crayons and somehow they were able to sit down and make cards. It's amazing how much energy these little ones can put out. After 5 minutes of sitting they were running around again!

Controlled Chaos

We went to a Halloween party at David's friend Cara's house this morning. It was a very chaotic two hours. David has been playing with this group of kids for over 2 years now. It's fun to see how they really do know each other. David's best friend of the group is Cara. He is always all smiles around her.
Ryan picked up a pimp hat to go with his tigger costume. He's such a lady's man!
David and Cara, the CareBear, enjoying some snacks.

Halloween at Wegmans

We went trick or treating at Wegmans tonight. It was a lot of fun. They had games set up at different stations all over the store. David practiced saying "Aaarrrgghhhh!" and using his sword. Ryan just enjoyed sitting in the cart and watching all the kids in their costumes.

Ryan crawled around the front stoop when we got home and thought he was hysterical. He was so happy with himself.

Fighter Jets

Two F-18 jets flew over the stadium yesterday during the game. We were able to go see them at the airport this morning. We didn't tell David what we were going to see, we just told him it was a surprise. He was thrilled. We thought he would love it because he gets very excited about airplanes and helicopters.

Pumpkin Patch

We went out to the pumpkin patch at the local fruit farm this morning. It was much colder than we expected. We very quickly surveyed the pumpkins and decided they were all too big! With Daivd and Ryan we always have to remember that we will be carrying more than just the pumpkin and it gets heavy carrying a 26 lb baby and pumpkin back to the car.

This was so cute. David loved riding behind the tractor in the little buggy car.

Clubhouse Picnic

Paul came home for lunch today and we had a picnic in the swingset clubhouse. David loved eating lunch outside. We had to keep our hands on Ryan the whole time. He was crawling all over the place.

Twix really wanted to be in the clubhouse with us. She stood on the stairs until we were done eating.

My Assistants

David and Ryan are budding photographers. They love the tripod and the cameras! David pretends to take pictures with the tripod (no camera attached). He carries it all over the house and says "cheese!".

Back to School Night

Tonight was Back to School night at David's preschool. Paul and I were both astounded when he volunteered to hold the bells in the sanctuary during the introductory song. He must really love this place. He followed along with the movements and was laughing and smiling a lot. It's so fun to see this side of my shy guy! Clifford arrived at the end of Back to School night. David gave him a big hug and Ryan just looked at him with really big eyes.

AutumnFest at Seven Springs

We spent Saturday and Sunday enjoying Autumnfest at Seven Springs. We had cool fall weather for both days and lots of fall fun. David's favorite part of the weekend was sleeping in a "magic" bed at the condo. (The magic bed was a big fluffy blanket on the floor!) He also said he liked the chips he had for a snack. Here are all 4 kids together. We tried to get them all to smile together, but that's pretty much impossible. They're all smiling on the inside.
The colors are starting to turn in the mountains. We took the chairlift up to the top of the mountain and walked around the lake. We all enjoyed skipping stones in the lake.

AutumnFest Weekend

Warm and Sunny on Sunday for Autumnfest. David and Ryan were not thrilled to have their pictures taken. The bounce house, petting zoo area and bungee jump were all within eyes view - they had their minds on other things!
Kaitlyn didn't want to give up her time in the pumpkin! Ryan tried to squeeze her out, but she was hanging on.
David rode a horse named Elmo. He looked so little on that big horse.
Ryan is too little to ride this year. He stayed with Paul and kept his eyes on David.
