Preschool Firemen

The Fire Truck visited Ryan's preschool today.  Our neighbor, Michael goes to the same preschool.  They were both so excited to get Fireman Hats during the visit.  (Michael already had a whole fireman outfit and came home and put it on right away.)  The boys played Fireman in the backyard after school.
They put out fires at the swingset, in the yard, and in the woods.  They were very busy Firemen!

Steelers vs Eagles

We had filled with Football in October.  Paul and I headed to Pittsburgh for the Steelers vs Eagles games on Saturday night immediately after the Penn State game.  The boys went home with Nana Sharon and Pappy Dave for the night.  The game was so much fun.  We were surprised to see our favorite band, Velveeta, playing before the game.
We got to the stadium early in our game gear.  I had a Steelers jersey, that I borrowed from Shelby, and Paul had on his Eagles jersey.  We saw lots of couples supporting both teams.  The fans were great.  Nana Sharon offered to buy us dinner if Paul agreed not to wear and Eagle's jersey to the game.  She was so worried the fans would be mean to him.  :-)

They kept the game excited until the very end.  Lots of cheering for both of us.  In the end the Steelers won the game.

Pappy Dave's Birthday

We visited Pappy Dave on his birthday to deliver some licorice and sticky buns.  The boys were giddy (so was Pappy Dave) while he opened his gifts.

Ryan's Preschool Open House

We visited Ryan's preschool tonight.  We met with his morning teachers, Mrs. Wylie and Miss Tania.  He loves Mrs. Wylie because "she is silly and teaches the class silly songs."
His favorite part of the room is the castle and knight area.  He loves playing here during his free time.
We also got to meet Mrs. Wylie's afternoon teaching assistant, Mrs. Ryan.  Ryan showed us his workbooks and was excited to tell us all he would be learning this year.  His favorite workbook is the animal drawing book.

Penn State Football with Cousins

Shelby, Bob, Kelsey and Kaitlyn joined us for a PSU football game on the 22nd.  It was a 3:30 start, so we enjoyed a tailgate before the game.  The kids loved the potato chips and burgers.  The forecase called for rain so we set up our tents and the tv inside.  They would have preferred to watch the Disney channel, but settled for the football games.

We lucked out with no rain and were able to toss the football and enjoy our tailgate before the game.

Jedi Treats

David brought a Star Wars cookbook home from the library this week.  We picked out three recipes and got to work on some after school snacks.  We made a lime yoda smoothie (bright green!), some X wing hot dog wraps, and a C3PO cookie.

The boys put on their star wars costumes and played outside after their snacks.  They're really getting into star wars.  David is keeping Ryan back by using the "force" below.  He's very serious about his jedi powers.  Ryan enjoys using the light saber in retaliation to the force.  :-)

Family and Football

Grammy Jill, Uncle Peter and Cousin Amanda joined us for the Penn State vs. Navy game on Saturday.  The boys loved having Amanda here to play soccer at the tailgate.
Ryan has developed a taste for cheeseburgers.  David is sticking with his cheesy hotdog favorite.
Uncle Peter was our griller for the tailgate.  Lots of yummy burgers and hot dogs.  Then we headed into the game.  It was chilly in the shade, but hot in the sun.

After the game they started a new tradition of gathering the players in the end zone to sing the alma mater.
