Paul and I surprised Ryan with a trip to Baby's on his last day of preschool. His favorite part was the oreo milkshake and the cherry on his teeny weeny sundae. He's looking forward to one more year of preschool.

Kindergarten Picnic
We were invited to David's school on Tuesday for a picnic with the Kindergarten classrooms. It was a rainy morning, so we ended up picnicking in the cafeteria. The sun was out by the end of lunch and we were all allowed to go outside and enjoy the playground. David was excited to show me his monkey bar skills on the playground.
David has loved having Mrs. Dobash as his teacher. She has a very calm and caring demeanor. We're hoping Ryan will be able to have her as his teacher too.

David's 1st Grade Tour
I volunteered in David's classroom on Friday morning. I arrived just as they were visiting one of the first grade classrooms. Each first grader gave a tour to a kindergartener. David's friend Thomas showed him around the classroom.
Thomas showed David the kind of desk he will have next year. This year they share tables.
The teacher asked the 1st graders if there was anything else she should share with the Kindergarteners. One little boy raised his hand and explained the discipline chart to the Kindergarteners. They move through lights (green, yellow and red) if the teacher has to warn them about something more than once during the day. Yellow loses 5 minutes or recess, red loses 10 minutes of recess and a note home and anything beyond that gets you a trip to the principles office. The room was quiet for this information.
After the tour we went back to the kindergarten classroom and I helped with centers. This day was particularly embarrassing for me. The little girl at my table handed me the pencil box and said "I think there's a spider in there." I looked inside and sure enough there was a spider, so my natural reaction was to scream and jump 6 feet back from the table. Not good with a room full of 5-6 year olds. Everyone got up. The student teacher and I disposed of the pencils and the spider in the sink and I squished him with a tissue. I asked David if he was embarrassed. He said "no, it was funny".

Life Flight Helicopter & Airport Fire Truck Tour
Ryan and I went on a tour of the airport this morning. We got to watch the Life Flight helicopter take off and then learn about the airport fire truck.
We were supposed to get to look inside the helicopter, but right before the tour was to start they got a call that an ambulance was on the way. The kids all moved back and waited while the patient was loaded and then we got to watch it take off for the hospital.
The airport fire truck was very cool. We learned about why it's bright green instead of red (so it can easily be seen in all terrain). We also learned that it has much much larger tires so it can travel over large hills and rough terrain.

Spring Soccer 2012
Spring soccer has come to an end. This was David's 4th time playing soccer with Centre Soccer and Paul's 4th time coaching. Paul's love of the game has rubbed off on David. This coming fall Paul will be coaching Ryan's 1st soccer team. It's definitely time. David has gotten very attached to the coaching calls. This spring he has been heard questioning which players Paul pulls onto the field "We're not going to score with that line up!" "Those two shouldn't be in together!" David has been sent to the sidelines multiple times for his coaching suggestions. :-) Time for a non-Daddy coach.
Ryan's favorite part of David's soccer games is when we're in charge of snack and he gets to hand it out to all the players. Here's Ryan passing out popsicles.

Memorial Day Weekend
We went to the YMCA outdoor pool by Grammy Jill's house over the weekend. They had a big kiddie pool that the boys both loved. Ryan especially loved running under the fountain.
David had fun on the slides and the diving board.
Horsing Around
Jill took us to a friend's house over the weekend to let the boys ride her horses. The boys learned how to brush Trippy and get her ready to go for a ride. Trippy was a beautiful horse and very good with the boys. They loved riding the horse.
Big smiles from the boys. David thought he was pretty cool holding the lead. Kathy was right behind him.
