Kindergarten Field Trip

David's Kindergarten class went on a field trip to Way Fruit Farm.  All of the families were invited to join the class.  Ryan and I met them at the farm and rode the wagon into the apple orchard and followed the tour.

We learned how they sort the apples and how they mash them for apple cider.

Ryan was a bit of a sneak and took a bite out of one of the apples while no one was looking.  He thought he was very funny.
David played got to pick a bag of apples and a pint of cider.  I brought them home with me while he went back to school.  His main concern was that I didn't let Ryan eat any of his apples or drink his cider.  :-)

Ryan started preschool on Friday morning.  He was just getting over a cold, so he missed the first day on Wednesday.  He was very excited to get in there on Friday morning.  He goes from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. three days a week this year.  He was very happy to start bringing his lunch to school and eat with the "lunch bunch" crowd.
He found his name and put it on the board to check in right away.  Then he found his cubby and hung up he bag.  He LOVES the kitchen in the room.  He ran over to it right away.

We took the boys to the first PSU game of the season.  It was 90 degrees and VERY sunny!  The boys were so excited.  We bought tickets from scalpers at the stadium.   David was a bit of a nervous nelly about doing this.  The whole walk up to the stadium from downtown, he kept saying "When are we going to get tickets?  What if we don't' get tickets?  Are we going to get tickets?"  - repeated 100 times
We got great tickets on the 40 yard line!  The only drawback on this day was the heat.
Ryan and I took many many many breaks and headed into the tunnel area for shade and iced lemonade.  Paul smuggled a bag of candy into the stadium for the boys to snack on during the game.  Lots of smarties because they don't melt!  Paul's a smart candy man!

Penn State Football Eve

Penn State Football Eve was held on the Friday before the first game.  We got to walk through the tunnel and out to the edge of the field because the boys are in the PSU Kids Club.  It was pretty cool to walk out of the tunnel.  The boys told the Penn State Santa they wanted Penn State to win the home opener game.

Joe was brought onto the field by a golf cart.  He sat in it for a long time.  It was nice to see him walk up to the podium.  He told us he had an argument with Sue that morning about whether or not this would be his 61st or 62nd year coaching at Penn State.

Superhero Dress Up and Play Doh

Ryan's preschool started a week after David started Kindergarten.  We had a week to play all day, which is exactly what Ryan loves to do.  He pretends so much.  He loves making up stories about his stuffed animals, making play doh food and dressing up in costumes.  He had playmates with his two best buddies, Michael and Luke.

Kindergarten

David was VERY excited to be going to Kindergarten this morning! He woke and got dressed right away. He was so excited he couldn't even eat the donut he had picked out for himself at Wegmans yesterday. He said he just wanted to get to the bus stop!
This morning was all about fun and excitement! They were both nuts! They wanted to scream and dance for pictures. Ryan was just as excited as David.
After we were done taking picture, I told David we could walk to the bus stop. He took off down the sidewalk - running! Ryan tried to keep up!
We got to the bus stop about 10 minutes early. More dancing and screaming for excitement. Then the bus pulled around the corner. David jumped on the bus so fast! The windows were all tinted, so Paul and I just waved to the dark windows and hoped David could see us. No tears for anyone this morning, just excitement!

David's Kindergarten had an orientation morning on the day before he rides the bus to school.  It was for both of us to get to check out the classroom, the teachers and meet his classmates.  We completed a scavenger hunt, colored a mural and got information on the school's policies.

After the orientation we met Paul for lunch at the Waffle Shop to tell him about everything we learned that morning.
