Snow Day

We had our 2nd snow day in a row today (no school on Monday and no swim lessons today). We met our friends at Barnes and Noble to read books, play at the train table and have a snack.
Ryan had fun playing Peek-A-Boo with Ella at the sign. They were both giggling at each other.
This afternoon we attempted to include Ryan in our game of Trouble. :-) He really wanted to play, but doesn't have the patience quite yet.
He had a very difficult time waiting for the 6 to come up so he could start his turn around the board. The picture below pretty much explains his feelings about this game.

The Engineers

David has been enjoying trips to see Pappy Dave's train this month. He learned how to use the controls and can make the train slow down, stop and go in reverse. He's had fun taking the train on trips around the city and then through the little town.
Ryan really enjoys making the train go fast. He caused the train to drop the tracks a few times during our most recent visit. David has been a good teacher.
Here's David screaming to "Slow Down!" and Pappy taking over the controls from Ryan.

Valentine's Day Night

We celebrated Valentine's Day with dinner at McDonalds. It was a "fancy" meal with tablecloths and flowers at every table. We saw a few college couples celebrating in upscale college style. :-)
After dinner we headed to the Jordan Center to see the Harlem Globetrotters. It was a lot of fun. Really geared to little kids with lots of silliness and laughs. David took the game very seriously and was really rooting for the Globetrotters to win against the Washington Generals. He was VERY upset when the General's coach came out at the beginning of the game and said Penn State should be a member of the "Little Ten" and not the Big Ten and that they were a bunch of "Losers". His eyes were enormous. He really couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was all part of the drama to get us to want the Generals to lose.

Happy Valentine's Day 2011

Valentine's Day is so much fun with a 3 and 5 year old! They were so excited this morning to find Valentine's surprises at the table. I was awakened to "Happy Valentine's Day to You" sung by Ryan. They boys were very excited to give me cards and a reese's heart right away. Then it was on to their surprises.
David LOVED his Lego surprise. He built it right away and then helped Ryan build his Lego heart.
Ryan LOVED all of his candy! He loves candy.
We went to preschool and filled all the Valentine's bags for their classmates.
Ryan's teacher is so smart. She put their pictures on little plate "mailboxes" and the kids were able to find their classmates to send their Valentines.
Two Happy Heartbreakers!
After morning preschool Paul and I took Ryan out to Waffle Shop for lunch. Everyone kept telling him how cute he was with his heart crown and he would just glare at them. He really is so charming! :-)

When David got home this afternoon he emptied his loot on the table. Very happy kid!

Ice Skaters

We took the boys ice skating on New Year's Eve and they both love it, so we signed them up for lessons. They've been having fun learning to skate every Wednesday night with a group of 3-5 year olds.
David picked it up really fast and races across the ice. I don't think he's too worried about his form. His main concern seems to be speed.
Ryan really takes his time. I don't think he has made it to the other side of the ice rink yet. He gets about 6 feet out and then the rest of the class is on their way back to the wall, so he goes back too. He's doing a great job listening and staying upright! :-)
I love the family skate after the lesson. I get to go out on the ice and skate with the boys.

Philadelphia Auto Show

We went to Philadelphia for the annual auto show. It's a fun day of riding the train, climbing in and out of cars (this is mostly the boys), and having dinner downtown at Maggiannos (YUM!).
David LOVED this Bumblebee car!
Jill and I liked this Miata!
Paul, David and Ryan all loved the Jeep!
All the excitement wore Ryan out. He was able to sleep through all the noise and lights.

Little Swimmers

David and Ryan started swim lesson in January. They're in different classes, but they're both in the pool at the same time. We're having some fishy faced Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Ryan is doing really well. He's listening and following all the instructions. It's such a change from when David started. I think David sat on the side of the pool for two month before he would even get in the water. Ryan went right in and started blowing bubbles. Two years of watching your brother take lessons must make a difference.
Fish Faces!
