Lunchtime Excitement

I mentioned to Paul that I wanted to have someone cut down a dead tree from the woods behind our house a few weeks ago. Yesterday Paul came home for lunch with two guys from work and within 10 minutes the tree was cut down, cut up and hauled away. David and Ryan sat on the patio and watched the action. It was loud (chainsaws) and fast.
Bye Bye dead tree. Poor little sapling lost some branches in the process, but it should bounce back.
The boys helped roll the logs to the driveway to put in the truck.

Muddy Muddy Muddy

We went for a very muddy bike ride this morning with our neighbors and their little girl. We may have been covered in mud, but we were all smiles for the 12 mile ride. David was a little upset about getting dirty, but then Riley told him she wanted to be "covered in mud" and then he wanted to be covered in mud too. (We looked good from the front, our backs were mud covered.)
We found a turtle on our ride and the kids got off their bikes to touch it's shell.
Our mid-way stop has a convenience store and kids park. It's perfect for ice cream and some kid time to run around.

Strawberry Pickers

We headed out to Way Fruit Farm yesterday morning to pick strawberries. The boys did great. They pulled up the leaves and found lots of red strawberries for their buckets. We ended up picking 2 1/2 pounds of strawberries. . . probably enough to last us through Friday. Ryan LOVE them! We might have to go this weekend with Paul to get some more.
The fruit farm said this year's crop was early and really big. We didn't have any trouble filling our buckets. We went with David's friend Cara and her mom and brother Dylan.
Ryan was sneaky and kept taking strawberries out of our buckets and putting them in his bucket.
The farm has a cafe, so we stayed for lunch and the kids got to play in the corn filled sandbox. The filled up the buckets and dropped corn all over the place.
Ryan wanted strawberries as soon as he woke up this morning. He cried when I told him he had enough. I think he ate about 2 cups!

Last Day of Preschool

Today was David's last day of preschool. He learned so much this year and made a lot of new friends. His best friend is still AJ (same as last year). His favorite game to play at school is "Lion" because he can roar at all the other kids. He has one more year of preschool next year and then he'll be riding the bus to Kindergarten. Ryan will start preschool at the same school with David next year.

Sesame Place 2010

We spent our 3rd year in a row at Sesame Place the Tuesday and Wednesday after Memorial Day. It's been hit and miss every year for weather - this year was a definite hit! We were able to do all the water rides and hang out in our swimsuits all day.
Lots of hugs for the Sesame Street characters. David gave lots of love to Big Bird, Super Grover, Cookie Monster and Ernie and Bert.
Kelsey and David were so kind to Ryan on the Cookie Monster climbing mountain. Kelsey did most of the helping to pull Ryan up to the top so he could slide down just like the big kids.
It was so hot on Wednesday afternoon. We got the kids a big slushy drink to share. It tasted like pure suger mixed with a tiny little itty bit of ice. Check out Ryan's face. That was what I looked like after I tasted it too!
Everyone liked the rope course. Ryan worked very hard to keep up with Kelsey, David and Kaitlyn. Paul had to climb through with him to help him out. He just kept repeating "David" as he made his way through.

Our favorite character - Cookie Monster! Yum Cookies!

Memorial Day with Cousins

We got to see cousins Heather and Amanda on Memorial Day. The boys didn't take long to warm up to them. David had lots of questions about when they would be coming to our house on our drive home. He loved hanging out with them.
The boys got to play with neighbor's little boys, who happen to be the same age as David and Ryan. They all kept Heather and Amanda busy. David wanted Heather to swing the hammock so high it would spin around and knock them all off. (He told me he had seen the same thing happen to Scooby Doo.)

Horse Show

The boys took there seats up front for the horse show this year. They sat for a while and really enjoyed watching the horses. And then David became interested in figuring out if he could hit the guy standing below our seats with his stuffed toy. . . twice. We took a break and went for a walk.
David remembered playing this fishing game from the previous 2 years. It's a cute game and everyone wins a prize. The boys both won a stuffed penguin. I can't wait to see what they think about fishing for real fish this summer!
We got to check out some of the horses that were just arriving for the show. David was very interested in learning their names. Ryan just tried his best to repeat whatever David was saying.
