Riding the City Bus

Last week we took a trip downtown on the city bus with our friends. The kids kept calling it the city bus and pointing out all the other city buses that we saw along the way.
They were so excited to get in their seats. They sat "criss cross applesauce" and really paid attention to everything around them. They asked what other people were saying to the bus driver and wanted to know why certain people were getting off at each stop.

We got off at College and Allen and walked to Mama Mia's for pizza. The pizza was great and there were jugglers performing on the Old Main lawn right outside the window. Great entertainment for the kids.

After dinner we fed the squirrels on the Old Main lawn. David's new fun thing to do is peeing in public places (parks, woods behind our house, etc.) Anyway, he didn't disappoint on this trip and made sure to go behind a big tree, pull his pants down and pee right there on Old Main lawn! His friend Ryan had some fun too! I guess Boys will be boys! Two cute little butts make it hard to get upset.

The Laundromat

For reasons I'm not going to discuss because it is disgusting, we went to the laundromat last week to wash the boys comforters. They thought it was a fun afternoon activity, this was a surprise to me. I had prepared Tom & Jerry cartoons and lots of snacks to get through the 1 1/2 hours.
We were the only people in the laundromat and the boys thought we owned the place. David jumped in the dryer and Ryan thought it was hysterical.
Eventually David did get bored with the dryers and cart and turned the Tom and Jerry on. He loves that cat and mouse.

Fish Hatchery

We spent the afternoon outside today at the fish hatchery and then walking along spring creek. We got a bucket of fish food for the boys to feed the fish. Our only concern was Ryan's excitement level. We really thought he was going to jump in. He was giggling like crazy at the fish and very excited to see them eat the food.
He demanded that we let him carry the bucket. It was not an easy task for him, but he managed.
This was David's 2nd visit to the hatchery. He was much more interested in telling me what type of fish we were feeding and explaining that fish like food that smells just like dog food.

We took a really pretty walk along spring creek and stopped to look for some fish. We saw lots of fishermen, but no fish in the creek.

Rock Painters

It was 85 degrees here yesterday! We were outside all day for the 2nd day in a row. The boys wanted to paint. We got out the easel and painted the swing set and trees. Then David decided he wanted to paint rocks to decorate the woods.
They carried their buckets back to the woods, searched for rocks and then brought them back to paint. We must have carried 10 little buckets full of painted rocks back to the woods. By the time we were done Ryan was covered in paint. It was a 2nd night of outdoor dinner because both boys were way to dirty to eat inside.

Grammy Jill Visit

Grammy Jill came for a visit this week and brought the boys matching Phillies hats. They've been wearing them everyday since they got them. They were born to be Phillies fans. We went to David's swim lesson and he showed off his swimming and diving skills. Lots of thumbs up from David.

Shavers Creek & Soccer

Saturday afternoon David decided he wanted to take Nana Sharon and Pappy Dave to see the animals at Shavers Creek. David loves going to this place and was very excited to show the snakes and birds. He told Nana Sharon that she shouldn't be scared because all the animals would be in cages. We learned a lot about the screech owl and kestrel hawk.
We came home and the boys opened some presents. Lots of candy and a soccer goal and ball for Ryan.

The night ended with David showing off some of his air hockey skills.

Easter Egg Scramble

We've been enjoying the warm weather and sunshine with lots of Easter activities. We took the boys and our neighbor to chase down eggs at the annual Easter Egg scramble. It started at 2 p.m. and was over by 2:02 p.m. Paul went in with Ryan.
David took off on his own. There were so many kids. It was fun to watch all the excitement.

Ryan didn't want to give his plastic eggs back. We had to really convince him that he needed to return them so they could stuff them full of candy again next year. A visit from the Easter Bunny helped to distract him while Paul gave the eggs back.
